SENIOR REGISTERED ARCHITECT
WHO IS CHRIS?
Chris loves problems and issues. Actually, Chris loves solving problems and issues. Specifically, Chris loves solving architectural problems and issues. As a design manager, he loves meeting with clients to listen and really get to understand their objectives for their new project. Once he’s sure they’re on the same page, it’s time to get to work and make sure the design team, any other consultants and the builders are all on the same page too. At the same time.
If you can’t find him in the office or on site, you’re going to have to look a lot further afield. He might be rock climbing in Laos. Or paddling down the Hawkesbury. Mountain biking through Glenrock. Or swimming somewhere in the ocean. This Newcastle architect really likes being outside. It carries through to his work – natural materials used in natural settings. Naturally.
One of his favourite projects was a public swimming pool redevelopment. Solving the problems, making it all work and then seeing it completed for the whole community to come together and enjoy. And even better, having a swim when it was all done. Did we mention he likes outside?
ON BEING AN ARCHITECT
I really enjoy seeing something that was imagined be slowly developed in the office and then made into reality. It’s a great reward to finish a project and see the satisfaction it brings to the people who use it. Architecture’s a challenging profession which always presents new problems. Solving those problems well can really impact positively on people’s lives.
